Digital Services Act

Also: DSA

The EU regulation, fully applicable since February 2024, that sets obligations for online intermediaries. For advertising it requires that every ad be labeled with its sponsor and the main targeting parameters, bans targeting based on sensitive data and any profiling-based targeting of minors, and requires very large platforms to keep a public ad repository. It applies to platforms rather than advertisers, but it shapes what targeting they offer in Europe.
