State Privacy Laws

Also: CCPA; CPRA; US state privacy laws

The patchwork of comprehensive consumer privacy statutes enacted by US states beginning with California's CCPA (2018, amended by the CPRA in 2020), now numbering around twenty. For advertisers they create rights to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal data and of targeted advertising, require honoring the Global Privacy Control, and restrict use of sensitive data including precise location. The Global Privacy Platform carries the signals. Agency Echelon's register at digitalprivacyregs.com tracks each statute.
