Walled Garden
A platform that sells advertising on its own inventory with its own tools, data, and measurement, and does not let advertisers take user-level data out or bring independent measurement fully in: Google, Meta, Amazon, TikTok, and the other large platforms. Walled gardens hold the majority of digital spend; the open web is everything transacted outside them.
